That is incorrect. Mobilesubstrate does work on 3.0. I have successfully installed liveclock, status notifier, and five row springboard all of which depend on mobilesubstrate. Almost all mobilesubstrate apps that saurik makes (Five dock, winterboard, cyntact) are not compatible.


Install it in icy. I can confirm it works 100%. It is just some apps that do not

It seems that way to me. Cydia, winterboard, cyntact, mobilefinder, five icon dock, cycorder all do not work. I believe it is how he coded the ui (which is why low graphic apps still work Icy, winterboard (just the config, lol), and bosstool work)

PS I wish we had some dev support. Last year saurik ported cydia to the beta 2.0, and I believe bigboss ported some too. But if no developer helps port it in the next few days, I am going back to 2.2.1

The app launches (so you can pick which themes to apply), but after respringing - no changes.

you have to uncheck activate when you run quickpwn its been stated throughout this thread.

I wonder if we can somehow install cydia thru icy (bla) imagine trying to install cydia and bsd subsystem by hand!

Been trying that all day with no luck. I installed all cydia default apps, and nothing. Also updating Icy to 1.1 breaks Icy

I believe dpkg is screwy anyway. I remember saurik saying something bad about it

this is getting frustrating LOL

i have everything working except the ability to move my apps folder to make space. i have restored like 9 times trying this. i am using transmit on mac and it connects fine and i have tried

first make sure you create /private/var/stash, /private/var/stash/Applications, /private/var/stash/Ringtones

Then rename /Applications to /Applications.old

create a link from /Applications /private/var/stash/Applications

move everything from /Applications.old to /Applications

rename /Library/Ringtones to /Library/Ringtones.old

create a link from /Library/Ringtones to /private/var/stash/Ringtone

move everything from /Library/Ringtones.old to /Library/Ringtones

reboot

but i am unsure about the "create a link" and i think that is the problem. when i restart after this i have nothing on my springboard except iPhoneApps icon

any suggestions?

ok i know how to do all these things but

1) when i dont select "Activate " it stays at the lock screen and i can not do anything

2) when i do select "Activate" it jailbreaks the phone but i never have carrier signal

what can i do now.......

any sugestions?? solutions????

so when i try to upgrade to 3.0 quick pwn freezes as it puts my phone into recovery mode why is this?

What have you tried to do to install cydia?

Everything I could think of.
1. Install from Icy
2. Use new pwnage bundles in older pwnage tool
3. Extracted cydia.tar from the 2.2.5-2 pwnage to the iPhone.
4. Installed every package cydia normally comes with (I cannot remember the exact location I found the list of packages)
5. Installed every app from sauriks source (well just the command line stuff, not winterboard, cycorder, non default sources, etc
6. Double checked to ensure I had every file contained in the Cydia.gz.tar in my phone

But this was all in my experience, so yours maybe different. I always try anything, even if someone tells me it is pointless

i fired up bosstool ran move applications and restarted and i am still getting the running out of space error?

i noticed that the bosstool app said cydia needs to be installed? i dont have that.

so i

1. started bosstools
2. hit move applications
3. then hit im sure i want to do it
4. then it just flashed real quick and i let it sit for a minute
5. nothing seemed to have changed

i just went to sync in itunes and got another warnging about running out of space?

is bsd subsystem needed?

Names Phoenix, been following this thread along with most of the forums for a while now, MMI is a great site!

Ill get to my point though. I want to go ahead with this 3.0 beta 2, I have however, an iphone 2g with a unique fix for a somewhat common problem.

I kept getting the This accessory is not made to work with iPhone error (keeps popping up and sound goes out) (and nothing is plugged in)

the phone was dropped in water before I got it, and my fix came from another website where the group there had found using a patched IAPD file fixed the error, depending on your firmware. For example Im on 2.0.2 and I have the appropriate patched iapd, I get no error and sound never stops working (using FWChanger to use newer apps). Anyways, in 3.0 I thought I read something regarding apple implementing accessories only working if it paases through them first (much like the new shuffle)

If this is true, Im wondering if upgrading will solve my old problem with no patched IAPD.

Also Im slightly confused on this thread a bit. I have again a 2g 8gb phone, and Im reading about only 32mbs able to be used, is that space strictly for jailbroken apps or all apps and everything else you could toss on the phone (music, videos, etc)

If anyone would be kindly enough to explain either or both of my 2 questions to me, Id greatly appreciate it and will possibly consider upgrading to help work out the kinks with everyone else.
