manually update to 2.2.1 without itunes?
i saw that the iphone will be coming out with a new OS 3.0 in a few days. i will be getting a new iphone in the next month. but, i do not want to upgrade to 3.0, rather to 2.2.1 so i can utilize jailbreaking. Does anyone know where i can download the 2.2.1 firmware update and manually install it myself without itunes? i assume itunes would default to install the newest OS, which would be 3.0 in a matter of days. thanks.

First, 3.0 will NOT be coming out in a few days, the article on the front page was just about it coming out eventually, probably in June.
Also, iTunes does not default to the latest version as you can shift+click on restore in iTunes and select whichever firmware you have downloaded that you wish to restore to... Hope this helps!

I don't understand your question. First of all like ALL DAY said... 3.0 will not be available for a couple months so the newest OS you can jailbreak will be 2.2.1. I assume you don't want to unlock. All you would need to do is take your new iPhone... plug into iTunes and hit restore. At that point you would use Quickpwn to jailbreak.
