Springboard crashes, and crashes, and crashes...

Ok, so I have recently taken an interest in iPhone modding, and I'm pretty decent... I currently run firmware 2.2.1 and I use Cydia (not Installer, it never seems to work for me... ) I have Winterboard installed and OpenSSH, those are about the only two that I use most, I mod small stuff right now, like themes and whatnot.

Ok, so I was SSHing my phone with WinSCP and I'm pretty good with the SSH I know what to mess with and what to leave alone. Ok I downloaded some themes as templates and I used the 3g icon change theme to change it to a fireball, and I wanted to mod it for my theme... I did, and at first the springboard crashed but I restarted it and it was fine.

Then... I did a couple more mods to my phone and they worked fine, no more crashes... until I noticed I could change the Wifi bars as well... so I followed all necessary procedures to do so, correct image size, correct file format (.PNG), Correct File names, and everything... I restarted my springboard and it crashed, I half-expected it though, so it wasn't a total shocker. and when I went to restart it, hoping it would work like the 3g one did... it didn't, and now, after countless reboots, and restarts the phone will still only run in safe mode... I even tried removing the files I added to mod the logo/bars... but to no avail... I am lost and confused... any one know what went wrong? please help... I'll try a restore and rejailbreak. please help, Thanks (in advance)

Ssh into your phone and put the stock files back. Then try. Also use winterboard to theme so this kind of stuff doesn't happen in the future

Same problem

I've been having the same problems with my iPhone 3g 8gb Black firmware 2.21 Jailbreak with Quickpwn ver 2.2.5-2.

SBSettings 1.0.7-5. Crashes constantly throughout the day during use or in idle. I pretty much stripped it down and removed all themes, all apps (especially SBSettings 1.0.7-5) from Cydia.

A while back I removed passcode lock and thought that was an issue, but the crashes returned. When I uninstall SBSettings 1.0.7-5, seems like it's back to normal without any springboard crashes. I love SBSettings, but seems I can't use it til there's a fix for it.

Wondering if anyone has done the same with similar issues to remove or resolve this. Is there something I can do to get an crash /error report? I hope someone has a fix for this.
