Do Carrier Updates?

(I'm new to the iPhone, just bought it last week. Had an iPod Touch before, so I'm fairly familiar with the game, but I've obviously never had a "carrier update")

I did it and i still have the old base band. my guess it's more like a roaming tables update or something. But don't know for sure. I i the udpate and have not had any issues with jailbreak. But I haven't tried yellow snow either and I use AT&T.

Its carrier update from 2.9 to 3.1.Also upcoming at&t micro cell device support(2 PNGs added).And 2 more APN's setting for mobility network&etisalat.I updated&it looks safe...
