Quick question... Upgrading an already jailbroken 2.1

Hi,

I have been looking everywhere, and I guess that I am missing it...A while back, I read that if you had an already jailbroken 2.1 iphone, that you did not need to upgrade for fear of never being able to unlock your phone in the future

Is this still an issue... I mean do we still have to decide between upgrading and possible future unlocking?

If there is a guide or a post stating how to upgrade an already jailbroken 2.1 iphone to 2.2, then I would really appreciate it if someone would point me there
