Basic Questions re: Jailbreaking for 2.2 3G Phone

Just joined the forum here. Mods look awesome! Before iPhone 2.0, I had jailbroken phone & loved it. Really want to jailbreak my 2.2 3G phone, but nervous. Can anyone help with these questions?

1) I have a lot of info. stored in downloaded apps, e.g. tapforms, lose it, fitness programs, etc. Can I restore that info. once I've jailbroken?

2) I always install Apple's updates asap. How long will I have to wait to install their next update (2.3?) if I jailbreak?

3) Does jailbreaking slow down the iPhone?

4) What's the best jailbreaking program? Difference between Pwnage & Quickpwn? (I'm using an iMac, OS 10.5.6).

5) Any way of going back to what I have now on my iPhone (just backed up) if I don't like the jailbroken phone or if something screws up?

1-When you sync with itunes they will be backed up to it.For cydia app. you have to use AptBackup to backup.
2-Who knows?I think in 2-3 months...
3-Not jailbraking,the apps.that you installed maybe slow down your phone.
4-Mac 10.5.6 has DFU issue,so you have use Automator to fix it.Also use pwnage tool to jailbrake it.
5-Just restore it to itunes...

OK, I am doing the jailbreak thing, but I have this message for about 10 minutes now..."Quickpwn is about to run on your iPhone 3G."

How long do I wait? There is nothing in the progress bar!
