How to Update 3G iPhone 2.0 to 2.2 ( Havent used any tools )

Hi ..
my brother had sent me the iphone 3G ( 2.0 firmware ) .. I haven't used any tools .. its not jailbroken yet.. What should i do ?

1. Can i update it via QuickPwn22 and then unlock ?
2. should i use the old method of creating custom firmwares using winpwn ! and then update it via Quickpwn and then unlock ?

Guys please help me out in this ?

I'd say to update to 2.2 through iTunes, then jailbreak using Quickpwn 2.2. From there you can unlock it if you wish using the dev-team's unlock package available via Cydia.
