So i just unlocked my iPhone 3G with the quickpwn 2.2 software. Everything was working fine until it suddenly restarted after downloading the winter something (forget the exact name it allows you to change the theme). While after it restarted the Pineapple appeared and now it will not go into the main menu. It just keeps restarted and doesn't go past the boot up screen. When i plug it into the computer I can't get the computer to recognize that it's even plugged in. For obvious reasons i can't take it to apple as i'll just have to buy a new phone. PLEASE HELP me get it working again.

Put the phone in DFU mode...

I don't know exactly what that is but i've been tryin to fix it for the past 6 hours now, and finally got it fixed.

My advice to anyone who wants there phone unlocked DO NOT DO IT, all it really gives you is teh ability to change the look, and maybe a few other coold features. Bottom line its not worth the headach. 1 million thumbs down to unlocking it

Jailbreaking & unlocking or two different thing.

Unlocking enables the phone to be used on different Networks.
J/Bing open's up the file system to you, so you can make changes to your phone.

always wondered what the difference was. well i guess i jailbroke it then. I looked at like 30 different instructions on how to do it and they all gave me the same way to do it. So i followed the instructions, but when i cleared my safari browser via the settings app, then i installed the winter software and thats when it destroyed it. I used the newest quickpwn software and i must have done something wrong, but bottom line is i fixed it and won't ever risk it again.

Bottom line is nothing you do will mess up your phone permanently. There are 350,000+ members plus countless others that visit this site for the enjoyment of modding their phones. Give it another shot.... I've had to restore my phone and start all over from experimentation well over 100 times... and I love every minute of it.
