Default 1604 Cant do anything with iphone 3g!

Can someone please help it's all gone bad!
Whilst I tried to quickpwn my iphone 3g to fw 2.1 my laptop suffered the blue screen of death with a message of a usb fault.
I rebooted laptop and tried to do it again but keep getting an itunes error 1604. I was using the latest itunes.
Since I've read many ways to fix, but most are old and don't work for me. Many say to uninstall itunes and reinstall 7.7 and restore through itunes, but this doesnt work either. I'm in the uk. Can someone help please to save me hrs upon hrs of trying things that are not working. Thanks

P.s. I've just tried again and another pc and itunes 7.7 to restore to 2.0.2 but still get the 1604 error message.......Is this whats known as bricked? Or is there still hope for me? What seems to happen, when the phone is disconnected from the pc, I can't get it to do anything at all. Only when connected to the pc do I see some life, shows the itunes icon and usb cable. I know this is the recovery and not the dfu. Itunes does not see it in recovery only in Dfu. So thats what I do, is put it into dfu and try to restore through itunes, but I;ve noticed the little cog symbol that used to show when updating doesn't show at all. All I see when its trying to restore is the apple logo. I'm using windows vista, and I've jailbroke and updated my 2g many time before. PLEASE PLEASE can someone help. Asa anyone had this and managed to resolve it? If it the end of my iphone 3g at least it'll save me time searching etc. Please help me. Thanks

Pps. I'm tired of trying now. I can't see any way out of this. Maybe some got lucky, do what others are saying, but nothing is working for me. Tried ziphone to try and kick it out of recovery, but doesnt work. If I could get it to respond with connevting to pc, I'm sure I could progress! Does anyone know of a bit of software that could kick this out of recovery please?? I'm not receiving any replies as I'm sure its too differcult to solve this problem. Looks as though I'll just be selling

Thanks for reply and offer. Guess you are talking in dollers, I'm in uk so thats about £150.....no thanks
I've tried dfu. Itunes states phone is in dfu mode(totally black screen), I click restore and says preparing iphone and shows the apple logo with black background, but there's no cog showing when itunes says preparing. Its just the logo. Then the iphone just swithes off and tyhen I get the 1604 error. I've spent hrs looking for answers, I doubt theres many left I haven't tried to be honest. Looked around youtube and tried some of those too. But it seems like the software is not installing at all. When the iphone it totally unpluged from any power source, the phone is completely dead. Can't get nothing from it at all. Soon as I connect it(via plug or pc) I get the itunes and cable pic. I'm wondering if apple store would take it back and replce in the shop?? I've no receipt though...but I'm tempted to try as I can't see a solution!

Can you start Quickpwn and once it puts you in "white" DFU mode stop Quickpwn and then try the itunes restore?

Hi Thanks for the reply. I'm pretty sure I've tried that, but just in case will try again later and report back the outcome. I'm starting to feel like my 3g is doomed! Shame as it's brand new too
I'm still willing to try anything new I haven't tried already if someone else has had this and solved it? I'm just getting the feeling nothing is actually being recorded to the iphone at all due to the cog action thats missing on the iphone, plus it just seems to go to sleep when trying to restore.

If its brand new, it will be under warranty. Take it to Apple, let them replace it.
So long, and thanks for all the fish
