3G 2.2 FW. Help w/ Jailbreaking

My buddy wants his 3G iPhone jailbroken, but he has already upgraded to the 2.2 firmware.

My question is if it will be alright to use PwnageTool starting from his stock 2.2 firmware or will I have to take extra steps like downgrading the phone to 2.1?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated guys (or gals).

Nope, you're good to go on 2.2 firmware. If you're going to actually use Pwnage and not Quickpwn, you'll have to restore again with your custom firmware, but that should be fine.

^^^^ive seen this answer from you 3 times already. what a waste. and if your going to recomend things do it the right way. i assume from wanting to use pwnageTool that your on a mac. if so use the first guide. if your on windows use the second one. im posting quickpwn because that my recomendation to you.

i start quickpwn and it takes me through everything right until it puts my phone in recovery mode. then it just stops and says please wait device is being prepared and it never starts the instructions. i tried to start it manually but it just stays there and does nothing.
