I just require some basic information surrounding the restoring, and re-upgrading of an 2.1 firmware iPhone.
Basically, about a week ago, (thanks in part to my own stupidity, and to the vagueness of the Quickpwn site) upgraded to a 2.2 firmware, and bricked my iPhone running on a turbosim & tmobile.
I managed to get my iPhone replaced, and now have a 2.1 firmware and an older baseband version.
My question is, can I re-brick the phone by restoring the iPhone through iTunes, and reinstalling the 2.1 firmware? Is the only thing I need to watch out for is installing the new 2.2 firmware, or can other things re-upgrade my baseband? If i want to jailbreak the 2.1 firmware, will using quickpwn re-brick my iPhone?
You just need to make sure you don't update to 2.2 without using pwnage tool because of the baseband upgrade. If your baseband gets upgraded it could be a while before you have a software unlock solution for your phone.
You can however use the pwnage tool to create a custom 2.2 firmware without the baseband update. Or, you can use quickpwn to jailbreak your existing 2.1 firmware. If you choose the latter, just make sure you have the 2.1 firmware downloaded to use with quickpwn, and you should be fine.
