After downloading the new iTunes....i cant jailbreak my phone any way...using ifuntastic or anything....have any ideas y's this happening???

I'm having the same issue, except it was happening BEFORE the update to iTunes 7.4. Once the iPhone restarted in recovery mode Jailbreak would just say "Illegal Operation" or something to that effect - I don't quite remember the exact phrase - I quit trying in fear of turning my iPhone into a paperweight.

ya mine is now a text scrolling paperweight.
Problem started after having problem with jailbreak, then restored.
Now it just restarts, scrolls text and restarts again.
Don't know what to do. Have restore a couple times and does the same after restore finishes.
Maybe it has to do with 7.4.1

were you able to jailbreak using iActivator after running the script and installer app.installer?

so far i have just installed the installer.app...i'll give jailbreaking a shot here in a minute when i attempt to get ssh back on the phone...

jailbreak still tanks with illegal instruction...

SO theres no way to add additional icons? and programs?

installer app works...i'm not able to get into the filestructure of the phone via the normal methods (can't install ssh, jailbreak does not work).

i did the " unshackle" method with ifuntastic version 3, and i downloaded the new itunes program and both still work great! No problems at all but i dont know if you can "unshackle" after you download the new itunes

that's definitely good to know...just as long as you don't have to restore your phone in the future (like when they release 1.0.3 in a few weeks). I'll have to give the ol' iFuntastic v3 another shot. That unshackle bit made my phone run worse than my windows machine at work with all of the startup screen junk...etc

Does anyone know if a new version of Jailbreak is coming out any time soon? I like doing my mods the old fashioned terminal with jailbreak and iphoneinterface.

Im only updating my iphone software if they come out with somthing thats worth doing all my mods over again like a flash update for safari! the new iphone update looks like a joke anyways just a way to get you to buy more stuff from itunes nothing thats actually helping how the iphone performs.

I'm also facing problem like you.
I'm running Mac OS X. And iPhone is 1.02

I try to downgrade my iTunes to 7.3.2
The issue still happen.

Right now I can use only iPhone Activation Tool to activate my iPhone.
But no more other hack.

Any one can help on this?
I'm waiting for new version of Jailbreak...

i had the same problem with my iphone when i downloaded the new version 1.0.2 to my phone.. i tried to jailbreak and got the same "illegal operation" however i figured out how to make it work with iFuntastic...

once you restore your phone and get the new 1.0.2 version on it close iTunes and install AppTapp application aka Installer app found at http://iphone.nullriver.com/beta/ on your phone once you have done this open up iFuntastic and try unshackling the phone follow the on screen instructions and it should work without a problem... before installing the installer app iFuntastic would give me a communication error but after it worked just fine
