2G iPhone - Upgrade Issues...

hi, i have a 2G iPhone and running Mac OS X.

i've attempted to use quickpwn and it keeps freezing on me when trying to get into DFU mode. my iTunes pops up and says, "An iPod has been detected, but it could not be identified properly. Please disconnect and reconnect the iPod, then try again. An unkown error occurred (2001). then quickpwn just sits there and does nothing.

then i tried the pwnage tool and i'm able to make my custom ispw, but when i attempt to restore it using my custom ispw it gives me an error 21. i'm able to restore using the default 2.2 firmware, but not my custom.

any help would be great. i'm just at a loss now...would like to have my phone up and running. thanks.
