Questions "jailbreaking"
First I am sorry if this has been posted before. I am a noob and I know commonly asked questions don't go over well. However here goes!
I have a iphone 3G and I also run windows. I love the phone, but the few things I think that would make the phone just awesome requires some sort of jailbreak. I know nothing of these thing and would SO appreciate some help here. What do I do? I don't even understand the terminology enough to do searches for help.
Any direction towards threads that cover my scenerio would be great.
Thanks and again I appolgize...

See, I am already lost...M8?
Thanks for the link! Before I dive in, will this be too much for me? I have great mechanical skills, and do pretty well with basic and even slightly advanced computing. I will admit this has me a bit nervous. I read somewhere here not to jailbreak if you will be doing a software unlock soon. I just updated to the lastest update, so I assume that means I'm ok for now. How about when the next update comes around?
Thanks again, I can already tell this is gonna be a better enviorment than the 350Z forums I belong to! You don't dare be a noob and ask something that has been asked before.
Alright I went over instructions and I have a couple questions.
1.) if I'm doing a restore will I lose anything (music, contacts, apps etc...)
2.) I bought a 2 year extended warranty, if I need to remove this jailbreak thinga-ma-jig so they will honor the warranty, is that possible?

So you updated to 2.2 by itunes correct and you use at&t. At this time there is no software unlock yet for the 3G.....As long as you don't every plan on unlock your phone to use with a different carrier than you can Update to 2.2 by itunes as you have already done and run quickpwn to j/b and enjoy the thrid party apps.

1.I always like setting up as a new phone and then let itunes restore my muisc, contacts & apps.
2.You can restore to stock S/W....(but like with any computer there is always traces of what you have done or modified0. But not to worry I don't think there tech will dig that deep.

Okay, downloaded everything...getting ready to do this.
Is there any "undesirable" issues? I read someone lost wi-fi, some people the phone moves at a crawl and so on.
What should I "look forward to?"

Well thanks Zwayne Cpjr and all for the help. All went well, did jailbreak and brought my file over as well.
Been using it a few days and my initial thoughts are, I like having more control and freedom however
Apples version, though more boring, is much "cleaner". Well worth any small sacrafice though. I need now to find the
Must have apps, suggestions welcome!

Hey mate when you say "as long as you don't ever" plan to unlock do you mean if I have 2.2, then JB it there will be no way i the universe to unlock it to use on a different network in 18months when my contract runs out?
Would I not be able to un-JB it or something or it conceivable that a crack will be available in 18months time?
I'm scared to quickpwn 2.2 it now incase I ruin the unlockability for the future!
