Well im confused

Firstly, my iphone 3g has not been jailbroken ever, first time im going to do it.. My firmware is 2.1 but on another website i saw a tutorial for the firmware 2.2 with quickpwn (im a windows user), should i update my iphone to 2.2 and hack it or stick to 2.1 and hack it?

This is the only thing that confuses me, i read that it isnt worthwile as yet to hack in 2.2? why is that? if it isnt worthwhile RIGHT NOW, then why is there a tutorial on it? will it ruin the iphone? im just curious as its the first time im going to do it!

Im not interested in unlocking the phone as of yet, because im on a 18 month contract, all i want is the apps that can be used when jailbroken!

Also - Once its jailbroken, i cant use itunes?

k thankyou, so basically its ok to do it with 2.2 if i dont want to unlock.. thanks!

One more question, if i do this will i lose all my apps i downloaded from the App Store? E.g. the Motochaser game?

Nope. Just upgrade through iTunes and then jailbreak with quickpwn. Everything will stick.
