u say quickpwn works, did u use quickpwn??

on a 2g iphone. u should be using quickpwn for easy and fasting process, unless u like to build a custom firmware.

here's instruction and things u need

Yeah, QuickPwn would say it was a success, but when phone restarted it would be back at activation screen.

hmm, don't really matter on sim out or not, as long when u restore your phone thu itune, right it is done, turn itune off, then quickpwn it. (2.2) it'll activated/jailbreak/unlock your 2g phone.

as matter of fact, i thought taking out the sim is important, but when i was updating my wife 2g i left tmobile sim in, i went out and smoke cig and came back and itune already finish the process and all the way into the screen say (different sim detected) i was like great(have to start over). so i went ahead quickpwn it(2.2) anyway. it went thu the hold process. i usually leave quickpwn on even it said it is done, and leave phone plug in, after it is fully reboot. then i close quickpwn. don't know it does anything, but i done it like that over 100 2g. so. i hope this help a little

    Thanks for your help.
Taking the sim out did nothing.

I'm doing exactly what your describing in Quickpwn. Only thing is it takes me a couple try's to get it DFU during Quickpwn. I let everything sit, ten minutes later phone reboots and back to activation screen!

Could it be something with iTune 8.02?
I'm going to try on a computer with an older version of itunes.

rx7turbo287 all what u said is true, but when i was jb my 2g iphone on 2.1 i woulden activate with the sim but 2.2 does, its weird but it workers i guess it qpwn pplm

u have to unlock to activate, if ur not unlocking it wont, and restore with the original ispw not the custom one

I got it to work. I had a powerbook running iTunes 8.01 and it worked no problem.

My bet is something is in iTune 8.02 that was stopping quickpwn from working right with the phone.

Anyway, I'm up and running with 2.2.

That doesn't make any sense since Quickpwn and iTunes are independent programs... but ok.

yeah they are seperate, but itunes runs and trys to connect with the iphone when it goes in and out of dfu mode, when quickpwn is working.

i dunno, i'm just saying it didn't work on my new macbook running itune 8.02 and it did on my pb running 8.01, everthing else being the same.
