HELP! Upgrading from 2.0.1 jailbroken to 2.2 jailbroken

ok so i had a 2.0.1 jailbrken iphone 3g (using winpwn) and now i decided to upgrade to 2.2....so i used a macbook (the new 2008 version if that matters) and the pwnage tool to create my custom ipsw and went through the whole process following the guide step by step.....once i created the custom ipsw n the mac i went to my pc where my backup of my iphone was created and restored using the custom ipsw through itunes on the pc...after backing up and everything i checked my phone and i have 2.2 but it says at the top no service and i cant make any calls...(i bought my iphone from rogers and i use a rogers sim card and everything was working fine before doing this whole upgrade to 2.2)i would really appreciate if anyone knows a fix for this and can help, also how can i know that my baseband is intact and did not upgrade? thanks

When building the new firmware you need to use Expert mode... select the 2.2 firmware... click on the General tab and UNCHECK the activate my phone box. Then re-restore.
