This has happened to me twice - the screen responds to touch and you can see the objects under a light. Going to Settings>Brightness - the sliders do _not_ respond to touch.
I have a jailbroken phone. Don't recall what I was using the first time, but was using Cydia's ultra-bright Flashlight app, the second time. The first time, I turned the phone off and on turning it back on, the next morning, it was still the same. I restored and the light came back on.
I just restored and the light is on again, but what a PITB to have to restore when that happens.

Quick thought. I didn't see anyone telling you to restore it (unless, they did and I'm just being thick), so please, restore it before you take it to the apple store. Don't let them void your warranty just like that.

isn't there's a pixel check program at cydia or app store? that will check your lcd with bad pixel or something, someone told me that, so not sure.

I have the same problem, my screen very hard to see or sometime it light very good and suddenly very dark hard to read., Could some one know how to fix it.

My iphone have same as problem after I download vista theme and some time LED out look very dard and i HAVE TO unsinstall all the theme took too much memory it work, and some time keep I have to turn it off for await it light on, and now it not light on any more, I have to come the shop to repair it?

Im having this problem now. Its like using a macbook on minimum brightness. I cant see anything. I tampered with hardware and voided warranty (technically) but apply doesnt know that. What can I tell them in order to get it replaced. I cant have them open the device or they will notice removed void sticker.

Maybe this LED just needs to take a break once in a while?

thanks i was thinking about restoring it then i kept reading and shut it off for about 10-15 mins then it worked again. thnx
