Upgrade 2.1 to 2.2 w/o losing Cydia/Installer Apps
Normally when upgrading my iPhone I go through iTunes to update the firmware & then WinPwn (more recently QuickPwn) to jailbreak, unlock. In the end I get my iPhone updated, unlocked, jailbroken, with all my contacts, media, data intact. Only loss though is my downloaded Cydia/Installer apps.
Is there anyway I can get these to save so that I wouldn't have to re-download/install them every firmware update?
Thanks.
(oh & I have previously updated to 2.2 successfully, but downgraded because of a caller ID issue with 2.2 (which was solved this morning)Last edited by SRASC; 11-25-2008 at 08:52 AM. Reason: additional details

How does Quicpwn reinstall them? If you update via iTunes then use Quickpwn your apps are no longer on the phone right?

time capsule, suppose a back up program for third party software. it suppose to back up your cydia and installer app into a file and back up into itune, then after you do update or restore your phone, your backup restore into your phone. then u have to download the timecapsule program, and click restore, and all program suppose to reinstall back into the system, but i haven't see it work before, give it a try, it may work.

APT Backup from Cydia. Then open up APT back up, click "backup" and then plug it in your computer and do a regular back up in itunes. Then upgrade your phone and once done, restore from back up and they will all be there.

Tried that one (Aptbackup) but when I clicked the restore option & came up saying that the iPhone needed to be updated/restored first, which it was at the time... So that didn't work. Tried it on 2 different iPhones.
My friend yesterday told me that Chornus (TimeCapsule's updated name) worked. But I tried before I used the BigBoss method using Aptbackup How To Upgrade In iTunes | iPhone News, Help and Guides (which as I mentioned didn't work either.)
I'm willing to re-try Chronus (TimeCapsule) which I assume would run the same. Though I do need some advice as to how to run it properly.Last edited by SRASC; 12-01-2008 at 08:39 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost
