I've jailbroken my (1st gen)iphone many times since I owned it, Thanks to the Dev Team but never needed to unlock, with At&t. I plan on upgrading to the 3g iphone but would like to unlock the (1st. gen) and keep it as a backup. (useing one card for both) I'm staying with at&t. what I'm asking is, should I use the card from the new 3g iphone when I get it,to unlock the (1st.gen), or unlock the (1st. gen) now then go get the 3g.
thanks in advance.
i don't really understand your question, your card will work with both 3g and 2g. don't really matter. u would only unlock to go to different carrier. and btw its your phone, do whatever u want with it, so don't need to post that (I staying with att) i with tmobile and love it and much cheaper. on 2g u can software unlock which is the best way, less problem, using a sim adapter really only if there's no unlock software for it, which 3g not yet. but will be very soon. i personally i feel iphone 2g is more solid then iphone 3g. and much stable but 3g are better looking, and for gps part, i don't really feel much better increase, i don't know the 3g network have anything do with it, but i 'm edge and i don't see a hugh different on locating places faster, may be more accurate, who knows. but if u want to unlock your 2g. there's a huge slection of how. but i can also give u instruction to, also for the 2.2 update. as for 3g update to 2.2, don't do it, it'll be impossible for unlock in the future.
Thanks for tring to help RX7turbo. what I want is to be able to hot swap my sim card between my 1st gen. and a 3g iphone, when I get it.seems the phone is also sim locked.
tried swaping sim cards with my wifes aa&t card thinking both cards being at&t it would work but my 1st gen. iphone won't except it,shows the connect to itunes image when inserted.so does this mean I need to setup a new contract.I'm thinking it has to be unlocked or sim unlock. Can this be done and How would I go about doing this?
