iPhone trouble

Hello all,

i have a first generation iphone which i just upgraded to 2.2 locked firmware but now I want to unlock it

so i downloaded pwnage tool 2.2 and i tried making a custom restore file for 2.2 firmware but it always fails. instead, i made a custom restore file so i could downgrade back to 2.1. after doing this, i try to restore my iphone and it says: The iphone could not be restored. An unknown error has occured (21).
This keeps happening everytime i try it

What can I do? any help will be very much appreciated

From reading you can not downgrade from 2.2.. and can not unlock the Iphone once upgrading to 2.2 because of the base band change in the firmware. You are stuck with 2.2 and a locked iphone.

Since you have the first generation iphone, you can upgrade easily with iTunes and then use Quickpwn 2.2 to jailbreak and Unlock. ONLY the 3G is affected but the 2G iPhone can still be unlocked with quickpwn after being updated.

nope. actually the baseband upgrade is only for the 3g iphones...not the 2g. just follow these instructions to do a fresh install of 2.1 if thats what you want
