Custom 2.2 firmware dl here
CUSTOM 3G FIRMWARE
This is for those of you without a mac, and don't want to use Quickpwn.
This will not update your baseband, so you're safe for unlock when it comes out.
Remember, if you want to be able to unlock your 3g, you're better off using Pwnage (Mac) or use this custom firmware so you don't update the baseband.
If you don't have intentions of unlocking, you're fine with updating through itune and then using quickpwn.
Had to split in 3 parts....

Just dl all three and open 1

I already have a jailbroken 3g still on 2.0 So all i have to do is SHIFT+ click to restore to the one you provided? Does it have installer or just cydia? I dont really want installer on my iphone
Or can i just POOF it and forget about it?

Installed this and it works great for the jailbreak and it does preserve the baseband, so thanks for that.
Just one thing though, it has installed Cydia fine but Installer seems to be missing. Did you do this intentionally or is it a bug?

I Shift Restored with this in iTunes on an iPhone 3G 16GB. More details:
- Activated fine with my official carrier network O2 UK
- Baseband preserved on 02.11.07
- YouTube appears to be working fine
- Original silver Apple boot logo
- Cydia present and working but Installer is missing from installation. Not sure whether this was intentionally omitted by 'Carrbone' during the creation of the firmware, waiting for them to get back to us on that one

Custom 2.2 firmware for 1st generation iPhone
I've searched quite a bit and have come up with nothing. I was wondering if anyone could link me to a reliable custom 2.2 firmware for the 1st generation iPhone. I have a 1st gen 8gb iphone unlocked and jailbroken running on t-mobile.

As I've said before I'm incredibly new to this whole thing, the only thing that I know how to do is put it in dfu mode and shift/restore using the custom firmware file, everytime I try to do it myself I fail miserably. So if anyone can either link me to a custom firmware 2.2 for 1st gen iphone, or make me an incredibly incredibly easy guide that even a toddler could follow, I would appreciate it greatly.

So I plug in my iphone, click update, after that I use quickpwn 2.2 and just follow the instructions? When it detects my iphone it asks me to select the location of the firmware on my phone, so should I download the ipsw file and store it somewhere? Also, where can i find the bootloaders?
It would be so much easier to just do a shift/restore with someone's custom firmware, seeing as how my phone is already jailbroken/unlocked and I don't want to mess anything up, could somebody please show mercy on my and create a custom firmware for my 1st gen iphone?Last edited by Spherical Puma; 11-23-2008 at 10:20 AM.
