Has anyone else had this problem yet. I upgraded my 3G iphone to firmware 2.2. At the end, itunes displayed an "error 8" message.

There is now a picture of an Apple on my phone with a status bar..and it has pretty much been like that for about an hour. I'm pretty much afraid to turn it off or do anything else with it. I'm just wondering if I'm the only one who has encountered this problem.

I did a reset all setings to a display 3g at best buy and saw the same thing it was half way through buy the time I was done shoping

did u upgrade iTunes also

Yes. It is up and working again. I had to put it in restore mode and try again. That Apple and status bar was just stuck there for over an hour.

Really not sure what happened, but all is good now. I really don't see what the difference was between 2.1 and 2.2 except on Google maps now gives you the option when looking for directions if your going to drive, walk, or take the bus, and how long it will take you to get there using one of those modes of transportation.

If your phone is in a jailbroken state it is always best to use RESTORE, not upgrade. Upgrade only overwrites specific system files and leaves everything else alone which can break links and file paths and cause issues.

- pushing restore instead of update is a must on a jailbroken phone!

Maybe I read it wrong but pushing UPDATE kills 500Mb of space... restore is starting from a clean slate.
