there are no 2nd and 3rd generation iphones. 2g and 3g is the data speed.
As long as you backup your contacts in itunes....then you can just sync them back.
Also, all the apps are firmware dependent....doesnt matter if you have a 2g phone or a 3g. The only apps that will not work would be ones that use the gps device on the 3g.....obviously they wont work on a 2g.

Find a pen, some paper, and write them down. I would never trust a backup to work properly.
especially one that iTunes made.Last edited by 461am; 11-13-2008 at 11:25 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

I do not know about the radio apps, you would be best served actually looking for them through iTunes on your computer. Yes, you can use shazam.

you will have to see what apps are compatible with the 2.0 2.1 firmware
not all of your 1.1.4 apps will work.
But there are alot of other apps to choose fromI have screwed up enough Motorola V series phones
I guess I will give the ol' iphone a try

but i never use it, so i could be wrong. but i think that be easy for u.
and there's a lot of radio app out there for firm2, and shazam its free from appstore
