Worth upgrading?

Currently, I'm running firmware 1.1.4 on my 8gb Iphone 2g. Is it worth upgrading to the newest firmware? If it is, which is the best and safest approach to upgrade the firmware?

I chose not to upgrade to avoid compatibilty problems.

I have upgraded to 2.1 and find it a whole lot better

WHY WAIT! Most people have updated and are not having anymore problems than the ones on 1.1.4. If you read the 2.x firmware is more stable than the 1.1.x firmware. The appstore also makes it worth the update. The 2.2 upcoming update will have a lot more features. I was waiting (NOT LONG) then i updated and am glad i did. If you are waiting you are staying in the stone age.

Yes my 1.1.4. is jailbroken. I don't really have that much program installed other than chess, dressup, summerboard, orb and some games. If I do decide to upgrade, which is the best program to use and safest one too?
