Default is there any way to go back to 2.02 from 2.1?

so I've been having some major pain in the arse problems with 2.1....
mostly with it getting stuck and freezing up and then not rebooting correctly and getting stuck on the apple logo...and then I have to work at it for like a half hour to get it unstuck or I have to do a restore and lose everything again...

can I go back to 2.02?

I guess you will suprise a lot more than me by considering going back to 2.02 as its way too buggy.

What method did you use to get to 2.1

    Are you 2g or 3g

Explain what state you want to get to, i.e. activated, unlocked, jailbroken and maybe we can help you

If you're on 3G then there is no way to go back b/c you can't downgrade your baseband. If you have a 1st gen phone then just DFU restore to 2.0.2.

I recommed you do a full restore not just an upgrade. Then use quickpwn

Set the phone up as new. dont worry you can still synch your numbers and music later (provided you have synched previously with itunes)

Reinstall your apps indvidually and take time over this testing your phone after each app you may have used an app which caused a problem previously. apps which modify system files usually ones that require a reboot in cydia are the ones to watch for.

Also worth rebooting your phone every other day as I've heard this cleans up the system especially if you use multilpe apps frequently

Its getting tough out there with all the apps possible to install its not easy to spot which can cause problems but some definately do

    Goodluck

I had so many issues wiht 2.02 I love 2.1. I will say this it got laggy and unstable after awhile, but I upgraded and jaoibroke 2.1 almost *** soon as it was out. I restore and rejailbroke the other day and its smooth as silk..

If you want to back up data:
Install Chronos and App Backup and back up what apps you would like to keep data for.

SSH the /mobile/Library/AppBackup and mobile/Library/Preferences/TimeCapsule folders to your desktop.

Sync in itunes to make sure you have contancts, calendar, music, etc... all current.

    Restore to 2.1 in itunes

Use Quickpwn 2.1 - available on the downloads section of this site here

Open Cydia, wait for the files to be reorganized

    Install Cydia upgrades

Reopen Cydia, install any additional upgrades and then install OpenSSH

    Reboot iPhone

    Install Chronos

    Sync itunes

    Install AppBackup

SSH your Chronos and Appbackup files back to the iPhone. You will need to change permissions on the AppBackup library file to 0777.

Open Chronons and restore your apps data

Open AppBackup and restore the app data.

Reinstall any other programs and themes you might want.

    Enjoy iphone
