    Can I still do this:
1- SSH in to your phone and copy the entire /Users/Library folder to your computer

From my 3G and copy it to my new 3Gs in these steps:

6- Connect through open SSH to your phone and navigate to your /Users/Library folder.

7- Replace the mail, sms, safari, weather, addressbook, and call history folders with the one from your computer.

3- set up as new phone in iTunes, do NOT restore from backup. Sync your mail and bookmarks.

4- quickpwn your phone. This is very important, do not use pwnage. I have ran this experiment 10 times on 2 phones for 2 days..... pwnage CFW slows the system down. quickpwn is the fastest operating jailbreak by far.

5- Go into Cydia and get your phone set up with OpenSSH.

6- Connect through open SSH to your phone and navigate to your /Users/Library folder.

7- Replace the mail, sms, safari, weather, addressbook, and call history folders with the one from your computer.

You're done. You've got all the call history, SMS, bookmarks and history from the web (even the cookies), mail, contacts, and you don't even have to set your weather back up. Everything is just like it was, but you are on a fresh install and your phone will be noticeably faster.

    Enjoy

(you'll need to re-sync your photo's and music)
Hey one1 - this backup thing do we do it while in a jailbroken/slow state? Or off a non jailbreak state?

You can do it in the jailbroken state, it won't matter.

Ok ive set up as new phone and everything but curious, what is the purpose of copying everything back into the phone via ssh?

Is it just to get back things like ur mail, sms, and bookmarks? because if so I wont bother as ive manually backed those things up already. Or does copying all the stuff back have to do with speeding things up?

Copying it back manually speeds it up; I assume you mean you have them copied in an iTunes backup, which will slow the new restore down if you replace it.

No i meant like i could just re-enter mail info, sync contacts from google, bookmarks.plist through ssh etc

I did set up as new phone

(anyway i tried replacing everything that i had backed up as the guide said, but for mail it didnt save my old accounts its asking me to set up new account...although in ssh i do see my accounts?)

^Yeah, you can definitely do that; that'll be fine and a bit easier than using SSH for everything.

this works with iPhone Browser too, right?

I've gotten into a problem that I'm sure once i were to restore would fix, but i saved a setting using File Zilla that just doesn't let me SSH to the phone.

    thanks in advance.

Hey Dude, if I do as you say, and save the user/library to my computer, will all my cydia apps and tweaks as well as App store stuff be there after step 7?

Can I use DiskAid instead of SSH, the wifi in my house is mess up

I did it, it's faster. Only one prob, when I copied it over to my iPhone now all my app icons are different, there from my previous apps. For example, Cydia is the Google Earth icon, Phone is MGS:Touch, Message icon is Lightsaber etc,

WTF? How do I fix this?

EDIT: NVM, once I backup, it fix all my icons.

I think w/ a 3G S, you can just restore from back up, then jailbreak and vice versa w/o any loss of speed in loading apps, etc. Am I wrong?

Yes, you are wrong. Even though the 3G[s] is a ton faster, it is still subject to the backing up of junk that ends up slowing the device down.

Here's a thought CCleaner - iPhone Edition. lol. One can only dream...
And it will be like a taco inside a taco within a Taco Bell that's inside a KFC that's within a mall that's inside your dream!

But is it really necessary to go though these steps with the 3G[s]?

All my app store stuff will be gone, right?
