My phone is already jailbroken but I can't sync. It's greyed out. Do you think if I use your jailbreaking method my phone will be able to sync? Btw,what is SSH? Thanks!

I am confused on a few points you mention in your paragraph about the advanced options under the info tab. What do you mean by "check off"??? Should they be selected or not? What do you mean the info will be erased from my computer and will sync normally? Can you please rephrase that section of your post to read more clearly?

I'm using XP so I just loaded a downloaded CFW on my 3G using Restore Mode (error 1600 in DFU) and I'm wondering: If someone used Pwnage and made a non-jailbroken official 2.2.1 with the baseband preserved, could I update with that and then QuickPwn for better results (faster speeds)? In official and QuickPwned FWs I haven't noticed a speed problem yet, but I just loaded this Pwnage firmware and don't want it to be as unbearably slow as my last phone or my brother's (even before they were jailbroken!).

What's a good ssh client to use for this method instead of just the command line ssh? I used transmit and it transferred but gave me some bogus error about not supporting something or another... would cyberduck be a better choice for ssh'ing into the phone correctly to movie files?

I have a jailbroken AT&T 2G 8GB iphone...
I connected with openSSH & WinSCP but i dont see a "/Users/Library" folder.
Once connected by default im in "private/var/root" folder which contains the library & media folders. Is this the libray folder im supposed to copy to my pc (1.8MB in size)?
OK I figured it out... go to root folder then access /User/Library & copy contents... I'm coming along

If you want to keep all your game saves you need to download appbackup from cydia. open it and backup everything.
Then SSH into your phone and go to /Applications and copy the appbackup folder to your harddrive.
Restore
Download appbackup from cydia after you sync all your apps back.
Open appbackup and run a backup (even though it's of nothing)
Copy the appbackup you saved on your comp over the one on the phone.
Run appbackup on the phone and this time press restore.
Boom, all your saves and app settings are back! I've done this a few times and works great.
now all we need is that desktop installer so we can backup our cydia apps too. That would be great.

Just go into /Users/Library and copy/paste each one individually.

Press the up arrow or whatever in SSH to take you to the lowest level of organization. From there, you should see "/Users" among a few other folders, click on that, the click on "/Library" and you should see all the things you need to replace.
