thanks for the post.

iphone classic? just to be clear, does this mean iphone 2G (and NOT 3G)

or Iphone (and NOT ipod touch).(hopefully its not a dumb question!)

I'm wanting to find :
2.2 CFW with cydia/installer ,
not bothered about boot logos,
to use on an O2 network uk
iphone 3g

I want to preserve the baseband for the future but will continue to use O2 network for the next 12 months.

Apps Crashing after restoring

what apps are this? Appstore apps or default apps, please be more specific. You can try Reset all Settings or Install Bossprefs form Cydia and fixDirpermission

Here you go cfw 2.2 for Legit 3G units meaning your unit is locked to a Mobile Provider like AT&T, Tmobile etc.3G CFW can be used by legit users which means this isn't hactivated and you still need to activate your Legit 3g units through itunes.

3G Cfw for legit units

Note: CFW works. Problem is since we need to rerun quickpwn to fix the cydia crashing problem, manage apps won't list the preinstalled goodies since the plist of the one from quickpwn won't know this. But all preinstalled apps are all working, even sbsettings! Currently thinking of a remedy for this.

Thanks for the upload. Really appreciated.

just to be absolutely clear, i can use this for my uk based o2 iphone 3g. Sorry to nag on about this but i just want to avoid a brick!

does running quickpwn as a fix upgrade the baseband? if so then using a custom firmware file would have been unnecessary. Or is it that you don't always get problems so don't always need to run quickpwn as a fix (i hope thats clear)

thanks

I too am getting an error 1604.

I have a 2g 8gb Ifone
Itunes 8.0.20
software version on fone is 2.2

I have followed the instructions
Connect fone
open itunes
hold shift + restore
select iphone1,1_2.2_5g77_custom_restore.ipsw
it sits there for a while thinking and then throws up the 1604 error.

I have restarted and tried a different USB port but still the same.

I have restored fone to previous sync'd backup so it still works but id like to try the CFW out.

Any ideas?

Worked near flawlessly for me. I used the first CFW in the first post. The only problem I had was restoring form a backup. I had to set my phone up as a new phone. Not much of a big deal since all the apps sync back.

You've been thanked!

I have a 2g 2.2 fw unjailbroken/locked iphone that use with the at&t network. If I shift restore with the correct CFW, is Cydia guaranteed to crash?

The only reason I haven't used QuickPwn is that I cannot for the life of me get my phone to get past the DFU step. I'm waiting for WinPwn in vain, I think. And if I MUST quickpwn after shift restoring with the CFW to get Cydia to work, I just won't bother.

Cfw 2.2 working but Cydia crashes

Thanks for providing the cfw 2.2 for the 2g. I upgraded easily from 1.1.4 as advertised. However, I did get the Cydia crash. I tried the fix with Quickpwn 2.2 as recommended in post #194. I get a "firmware error string" message when trying to browse for the firmware bundle and choosing the cfw 2.2 ispw in Quickpwn. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

I have resolved the 1604 issue by using a different computer. I installed itunes and copied the pwnd folder over and it worked first time.

Bro,
I stated clearly on my post that to quickpwn you need the Official 2.2 fw, the cfw wont be recognized by quicpwn. Btw i posted a new CFW 2.2 for 2G no more Cydia crashes
