iPhone 2.1 Jailbreak (Windows) - [Guide]

Hi folks, I got a 100% functional jailbreak Iphone 3G 2.1 but there is something strange because:
1) I did not use itunes 7.7, all the process was on 8.
2) Once Quickpwn 2.1 finished the process and reboot my phone, surprise I had cydia and Installer on my springboard!.
3) i did not use DiskAid
4) I did not use MobileInstallation patch

My iphone is working as fresh as new.
I´m using windows XP sp2.

do Anybody has same results?

Works great, had my iphone for 2 weeks now, first time owning one. Been wanting to jailbreak, saw this is completely gui now so figured what the heck. took me about 5min...Awesome!!!

Now can anyone help me figure out how to copy file to/from?

You didn't have to do any other steps because you used the quickpwn 2.1 which is for the new 2.1 software. The original instructions were a "workaround" for the 2.1 firmware, with the old quickpwn software.

Okay... The "Simple Method" didn't work... Guess I'll try this for my 3G

I just bought a new 3g and it is 2.1 out of the box.

Has anyone tried pwning a 2.1 fresh out of the box? I have not been able to find the answer in this thread.

Why ask the question here, then start a thread right above it with the same question?

I'm sure that 2.1 is 2.1, if they changed the firmware, they would change the build number... Also, they aren't going to release a firmware in-the-box without releasing it on iTunes; if they blocked the Jailbreaking process, don't you think they would want everyone blocked? not just people that are buying the phones now...

I just used QuickPwn on my 3G last night, no problems... I'd say, Go for it!

Simple. This is a thread about 2.1 jailbreaking and less people would see it then if I created a new thread dedicated to the question.

Im sure there are other wondering the same thing since 2.1 JUST started coming on phones out of the box.

i just updated my iphone's firmware to 2.1 from 1.0.4 but now my itunes won't recognize it and wants me to do a full restore, w/c i won't do since i'm going to loss a lot of information.. Also, Quickpwn 2.1 keeps crashing on me. The phone works fine, and i'm able to surf, but now i can't jailbreak..

I appreciate any help from the gurus!

Ok I just bought my 3g iphone 2.0.2 otb yesterday. Im using Att. I dont need to unlock it but i do want to jailbreak it. So are these steps able to be used on a otb 2.0.2? or is there any downgrading that needs to be done to get back up to 2.1?

iPhone:
1st Gen running 2.1

iTunes:
8.0

Following this page I uninstalled iTunes rebooted and reinstalled 7.x

Connected iPhone and iTunes says that I must run v8 with my phone.

How do I correct this?

OK I have 1st Gen running 2.1 (5F136)
iTunes 8.0.2.20
Windows Vista Home

I did NOT downgrade to iTunes 7.x

I ran the rest of the instructionsexactly as they read on the first page of this thread.

Once I rebooted the iPhone I now have
Installer and Cydia on my main screen.

I can only assume that this means my iPhone is Jailbroken.

Otherwise the phone works fine.
