What is the best BL to use 3.9 or 4.6 and what do they do?

Sorry i'm a little new to this but have been playing with it for a little now.
I have iTunes 7.7.1 and running Vista SP1 x64 & have iPhone 2G 8GB.

I already tried v2.0.2 using restore but was not able to get youtube to work. so I restored to v2.0.1. now everything works.

Also Sometimes I have a problem with some programs. after i install a program using cydia I'm not able to do anything else and after about 30 sec the phone reboots.


Can anyone help me understand it a little better because I have been googling so much my keyboard tells me to get lost. lol


Current versions:

iPhone v2.0.1 5B108 (WinPwn 2.0.0.4)
Model: MA712LL
Modem: 04.05.04_G

I selected to downgrade to BL 3.9. and used 551MB root part.
