I am about to sell my 1st Gen, jailbroken iphone. I have it still on the soft upgrade v1.4 firmware. I was hoping to get suggestions on whether it would be better to upgrade it to 2.1 and Pwn that, or leave it as is and just send buyer iTunes 7.5 file. Thanks

OK i am new at this i am not sure if i have a 1st or 2nd gen 8gig iPhone which way unlocked and i didn't mean to but studied me upgraded to the newest firm them locked it again. after messing around with it i seemed to have got it stuck in recovery mode and the only way to power off is to hold both buttons at the same time them it just goes blank the red slider doesn't come up to power off
i followed your steps to restore and kinda though it was gonna work but it just keeps going and going and going and wont restore ???? please tell me you know how to fix it i bough off eBay and have no receipt

I tried doing it, the first step was to replace my iTunes, now it says that iTunes doesn't recognize my iTunes library created by iTunes 8 and won't open. What do I do?

step 2-Go to My Documents > My Music > iTunes and delete the file called "iTunes Library.itl"

Well I just moved it to another location and it worked, however now when I pop my phone in, it says that itunes does not recognize the phone until 7.7 and that i should download it.

I tried to go ahead and put it into recovery but once again its as if itunes didn't know my phone existed.

Any thoughts?

I am trying this and am stuck with "Restoring iPhone software" withe bars going back and forth for about 25 minutes now.

Yes this works on downgrading any firmware bewteen 2.0 and 2.2 since the baseband version doesn't change. This guide is now bascially irrelevant since I can't see a single reason to be on 1.1.4. But... which step are you stuck at?

i've down this plenty of times for my friends iphones and all have been successful.

But this is my first problem in about a year.
it's been sitting at " restore iphone firmware" for hours..
Can anyone help me out?
