Um, sure.
The method for 1.1.1 is long obsolete by now, and you no longer have to go through so many steps just to jailbreak your phone. Nowadays, most people just restore straight to 1.1.4 and use a program like ZiPhone, iLiberty, or something similar to get their iPhone jailbroken/activated/unlocked.
Oh, and if you don't like having to reinstall your apps after every restore, you can use Pwnage to create a custom restore image for 1.1.4 (or lower) and restore your iPhone to that image instead. The only problems you may come across on that method are restore errors and the hassle of having to update your outdated apps (since they are preinstalled into the image when you create it).
