Jailbreak, or 2.0?
With the new 2.0 firmware update just around the corner, will you be keeping your jailbroken iPhone, or will you be updating to the new 2.0 firmware? I personally am going to keep my iPhone the way it is for a week, and read around about it, and then decide.

I plan on upgrading as quickly as possible and throw regard to the wind and pray everything works.
I am on T-mobile so I am also hoping it won't break that.
I find it is best to act without thinking as thinking just slows you down.

How long do you think it will take to jailbrack 2.0 ?

I will be going to 2.0 and jailbreaking it. It is jailbreakable.
Simplicity is an amazing thing.

Ah so you're one of those "help! I've upgraded to 2.0, and I want to go back down" kind of people.
No apps are going to work at all. (yet)
Baseband will probably have changed (again)
You'll be even slower than the people who think when you find yourself trying to restore back to 1.1.4 and reflashing baseband if you're not careful, lolLast edited by dale1v; 06-06-2008 at 09:38 AM.

I agree with Dale1v. People don't understand that 2.0 will be jailbroken rather quickly BUT the developers will have to re-write EVERY SINGLE APP for 2.0. Installer and Cydia won't work on 2.0.
Lets start a thread that polls how many people will start NEW threads with topics like "I upgraded to 2.0, how do I get installer?" or "I'm on 2.0... how do I get my apps"... or "OMG I'm on 2.0 and it sucks! How do I go back to 1.1.4?"

1. All of the applications have to be rewritten to work on 2.0.
2. If your not on AT&T or the official Apple carrier, you update your phone gets relocked and you get to see a connect to iTunes cable with a slide to emergency screen.
3. Don't update if your unlocked or jailbroken until its been proven safe to update to (which it probably will be pretty fast) and if you like your apps now, don't update until they work!
That is why, since i am just jailbroken and on AT&T. I will wait until i hear what happens when a previously jailbroken phone (i will obviously restore and not restore from backup) tries to update, if all works out well (99.99% chance it will) then i update and i get my 2.0.

I heard a rumor that if you are on an older firmware and wanting to upgrade to newer firmware with a different carrier your phone will permanently be locked and would not be able to get unlocked...

My thinking is that even when installer DOES get on 2.0, more than half of the apps. that we all love will not be rewritten, or were rewritten with the SDK and will be in the app store.
