Default Attempting to Upgrade + Jailbreak 1.1.2
    STATUS ON 1.1.2
    - Jailbroken NO
    - Unlocked NO (but I have AT&T so I'm not even going to try )
    - Custom Ringtones YOU BETCHA!

I'm testing OktoPrep although from what I gather it needs an extra program that has not yet been released to finalize the jailbreak after upgrading. I'm going to see what this is all about Stay Tuned

    List of changes I see:
    1. Under Settings > General there is a new International tab
    a) Language (choices are English, French, Dutch, and Italian)
    b) Keyboards (choices are on/off switches for English, English (UK), French, German, Italian
    c) Asian Font (choices are Chinese and Japanese)
    d) Region Format (choices are Australia, Belgium, Botswana, Canada, Hong Kong S.A.R, China, India, Ireland, Malta, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, South Africa, U.S. Virgin Islands, UK, US, Zimbabwe, and three more tabs)
    i) French Tab (choices are Belgium, Canada, France, Luxembourg, Switzerland)
ii) German Tab (choices are Austria, Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg, Switzerland)
iii) Italian Tab (choices are Italy and Switzerland)

    2. Under Settings > Keyboard there is an International Keyboards Tab with the same options as the Keyboards Tab in the Settings > International

    3. Under Settings > Sounds > Ringtones there is a Custom heading with my custom ringtones made with iTunes and a Standard heading with all my other ringtones. Actually quite useful. Ish.

    4. The iPhone as a whole seems much more streamlined without any noticeable pauses when switching programs or double-clicking the home button

    5. When the iPhone is plugged in, under the "Devices" tab in Itunes... a battery symbol is shown indicating the iPhone is charging (right now I'm 100% charged so I don't know yet if the symbol reflects the current charge of the iPhone...I'll drain some battery and find out.) EDIT: Confirmed that it DOES show the current battery status of the iPhone

    6. OMG AWESOME! With firmware 1.1.2 you can add any ringtone you want without any hacks etc.

    1. Make a desktop folder and put all the sounds, ringtones, etc. in that folder
    2. Use Quicktime or any Audio editor to keep it under 30 seconds
    3. Save all of them as a .m4a
    4. Then you have to rename the (Apple + I) or get info on each ringtone
    5. Change the .m4a to .m4r, it will ask you if you want to do this, say yes.
    6. Rename all of them which is a pain if you have a bunch like I did.
    7. Open iTunes, do the "Add to Library" and select the desktop folder you have everything in.
    8. iTunes will make a folder in USERS/MUSIC/ITUNES/ITUNES MUSIC called ringtones and take everything that is name correctly and it will show up on your Ringtone Link on the sidebar of iTunes and it will show up on the iPhone's ringtone tab where you sync.
    Thanks jar0167

I'll post anything else I find.

STATUS 8:25 pm: Downloading the 1.1.2 firmware...160.15 MB
    You can download 1.1.2 here
(syncing 1.1.1 at the same time so as not to lose EVERYTHING)
(also backed up my SB themes and Customize data to desktop)

STATUS 8:54 pm: Comcast internet is creeping along at 1/4 of the usual speed... 2/3 done the download

STATUS 9:04 pm: Ahhh internet is back to normal and download complete!

STATUS 9:08 pm: Installed OktoPrep and restarted my phone (just incase).
Right-clicked Check for Update in iTunes and navigated to my newly downloaded 1.1.2 firmware (saved to desktop) and began the upgrade

STATUS 9:09 pm: iTunes extracted the files, prepared for the update, and is now updating

STATUS 9:12 pm: Update finished and is being verified by iTunes, now iTunes is updating firmware

STATUS 9:16 pm: Firmware update finished and iPhone got restarted, the slide for emergency text was shown briefly and switched between several different languages.

STATUS 11:00 pm: Downloaded TouchFree (Windows) and tried to Jailbreak but I got an error "Please visit the URL given in Safari first". This obviously happened because the TIFF exploit has been patched (the URL was a TIFF image)

I have no access to my third party apps if they are still on the phone. As of now this does NOT jailbreak the iPhone. I'll keep posted as I learn more (although nobody has even glanced at this thread in the last half-hour)

Here is my downgrading tutorial. Tonight I will make a full 1.1.2 jailbreaking tutorial.

I'm at the same spot you are. Same situation a well: iPhone locked to AT&T, updated to 1.1.2.

None of the TouchFree methods I've looked at (several different links posted in various places) seem to work.

I'll also post anything I find as I go along

    5. I'M NOT SURE THIS IS 1.1.2 EXCLUSIVE When setting a timer in the Clock.app there is an option under "When Timer Ends..." to "Sleep iPod" (this in addition to the new Custom and Standard ringtone headings being visible) again I am not sure this is 1.1.2 exclusive can someone please confirm?
No. this is not 1.1.2 exclusive. I have this option on my 1.1.1 firmware.

Has the SMS problem been repaired yet? ie, receiving messages from non numeric senders?

    http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=15362

If so, I shall definitely be keen to upgrade

From what I can gather, all the oktoprep does is allow you to downgrade again if needed. From what I can see, a lot have upgraded and downgraded back so its working in that sense?

I'm at work for five more hours. When I get home I'll respond to all comments and try a bunch of different ways to get myself to a jailbroken 1.1.2 iphone. (bump)

I'm in the same boat. I don't care though, I needed a break from modding for a few days! LoL

I am just waiting patiently for the real jailbreak for 1.1.2.

I used the command line method (using iphuc on an Intel Mac) posted by Jacobzking here on MMI and it worked perfectly.

I'm now in the process of trying to get Summerboard working on it since Installer won't install it to 1.1.2 yet

I got summerboard installed on 1.1.2 by editing /private/var/root/library/installer/RemotePackages.plist, this file contains the firmware version check, if you do a search and replace on ">1.1.1<" and change it to ">1.1.2<" you will be able to install all of the apps which do a check on the firmware version. The downside is that the edits will be lost when installer refreshes. But its a good enough trick to get it installed. I just can't figure out how to get Springboard scrolling, so I'm using Dock as a launcher for now.

You can use Cyberduck w/ one of the Text Editor plugins to edit the file easily enough,

Summerboard was updated today. If you've jailbroken 1.1.2 you can now scroll screens again

I believe it is a 1.1.2 feature but i'm not sure. iTunes 7.5.

Cool! I've given up on jailbreaking for the time being and am actually about to start a thread walking myself and spelling it out for others the process of downgrading from 1.1.2 to 1.1.1 and still having working phone features.

Yes it does, updating itunes to 7.5 and upgrading from fw 1.1.1 to 1.1.2 took longer than the jailbreak process.

Using Conceited softs GUI Jailbreak on a vanilla 1.1.1 Ipod Touch,

    http://conceitedsoftware.com/iphone/1.1.2-jailbreak.zip

I had no problems, after installing Oktoprep, then Shift+click to upgrade to a downloaded ipsw for IPOD firmware 1.1.2.
After running the jailbreak, which installed installer and SSH I then refreshed sources and installed the updated Summerboard.

1.1.2 Ipod Jailbroken, with Sendsong & Sysinfo all working fine! Woohoo
