Thread: Unusual Jailbreak Problem
07-26-2007, 11:49 AM #1Unusual Jailbreak Problem
I'm running jailbreak on one of my old computers because I have a PPC mac. Its a windows 2000. I downloaded itunes 7.3 and all. Downloaded all the neccessary software for jailbreak to work, unziped neccessary files, ran cmd, typed cd\phonedmg, press enter, come up with cphonedmg>, type jailbreak. this is when I run into problems "The procedure entry point SHGetFolderPathAndSubDirW could not be located in the dynamic link library SHELL32.dll." I've re-download itunesmobiledevice.dll several times. I've re-downloaded jailbreak several times. Nothing seems to work.

Hmm. You're the first person I've seen running it on 2000, could be its not compatible.

Must be a 2000 thing then. Do you have access to an XP machine you can try it on?

yeah. I just started working on the XP and got everything downloaded and now it says that there is a "pairing issue".

yes. I did think of one reason though, don't know if this would change anything or not. I originally activated my iphone on my regular computer (PPC Mac) and have been syncing and such on that computer. But because it is a PPC, I couldn't use jailbreak. So I went to my old Windows XP laptop. I downloaded all of the programs including itunes 7.3, but have yet to plug in the phone with itunes open. could this be the problem? that the phone is not recognized by the computer? Of course I plug it in when running jailbreak, with itunes closed, but ignore the "found new hardware" dialogs.

Ah. Yes, of course you need to install the hardware so Windows knows what it is. That should fix it.

I have an odd Jailbreak problem: I did everything right etc. It said "Jailbreak succeeded!" but then it said "Error connecting to AFC service" and now I can't put the PEM file in... Any help?
