The title says it all, my friend got a free iPhone 4S on Verizon but she hasn't touched it yet until I told her about the SAM Unlock however I need to jailbreak it first before we can do anything and Absinthe isn't working and hangs at "Jailbreaking beginning..." for hours.

Try a different computer if you can

or you can try the latest redsnow that added 4S jailbreak compatibility.

It's not working. ): redsn0w requires the iPhone 4S to be activated and Absinthe won't jailbreak it until I can get it pass the activation screen. *Sigh* There's no hack for hacktivation besides jailbreaking?

Yup, the iPhone 4S was originally completely shattered but I was able to get a replacement part from a 3rd party vender and got Apple to actually switch it out for a new iPhone 4S with Verizon sim card. It's completely new and has never been activated. It's still on iOS 5.0. I was planning to unlock it for her today since SAM unlock is out.

Ok, then put the verizon sim card in the phone and connect it to itunes. That should get you past the activation screens and then you can jailbreak.

I tried that. :/ It tells me to enter information for Verizon and I even tried just BS-ing that part but it gives me an error and I'm still at the activation screen.

Haha, no problem. Thanks for you quick replies though! I am not familiar with CDMA myself. Hehe, I personally use an iPhone 4 on T-Mobile and getting past the activation screen is so easy. All you need is an AT&T sim, whether it be activated or not, the iPhone will take it.

I am used to the same thing. I deal with ATT iPhones more than any other.
