I can't believe how much slower data is on verizon compared to Att. I can only get like .5mbs DL and .03mbs upload. Att got like 4mbs DL and 1.5mbs upload. Too bad Att kicked me off their network cause I use more than half of my usage on partner towers.

Good to know .. So Verizon aint all that after all, huh ? I honestly never have experienced any problems with AT&T !!
thanks for the heads up though !

Well the good thing is that you get slow 3G in more places!

True, but really sucks that its so slow Lol. Seemed like my At&t iphone4 was just a smoother phone.

Just read on Wired where they talk about this. The i4 is slower than other smartphones on the network. Some think that it may be Verizon throttling the iPhones so they don't go down. But who knows.

It's slow yes but I'm getting used to it. I'd rather have unlimited data than faster speeds. It's not so slow that I can't stand it and that's what counts
Verizon has better coverage where I am too, half the time I can't get AT&T service to even use my data, at least I can use my data anywhere I want now.

wouldnt doubt it. i may not keep it since its really bothering me.

It's a slight difference to me in my area. It isn't that bad for me. Perhaps it is slower for you in your area?
03-07-2011, 08:32 PM #11
have you tried a speed test while on 3g
03-07-2011, 08:36 PM #12
Oh yes I've tried. Let me see if I can pull up my results. I know the speeds pretty much look like crap lol, but for what I use data for it's pretty good for me. Downloads can be a little slower though. I'll be back with my results.
Ping 229 ms
Download 0.47 mbps
Upload 0.46 mbps
Edit: I'm on 3 bars in a lower reception area. Might try again some time when I have full bars.

I just bought the Xoom a few days ago and they kept trying to get me to go for the data package. I told them I was going to tether my AT&T iPhone to it due to their speed being very slow here. It's not horrendous by any means, but my 3G service with AT&T is smoking.

No complaints here on AT&T
03-10-2011, 10:45 AM #15
ATT is slower 3G here than Verizon which is why I have a Verizon iPhone. I get better coverage and service than i do with ATT. So the argument of which is better just depends on where u are.

Where I live there isn't even a home Att tower, that's why they kicked me off their network and Att was still faster. Verizon has better coverage but my phone will barely stream pandora on 3G and won't even play a YouTube video on 3G. Even when I was in Minneapolis.

I have no issues with speed on Verizon. I used my brothers iPhone 4 on AT&T and my phone seems faster in those terms. He's thinking of switching

AT&T here you get tons of dropped calls. There are places that you will have no bars at all. So I have verizon. I'd rather have coverage everywhere than fast coverage some places. But I agree if I'm at home it's super slow unless I hook up to wifi, but if I drive to the city I get speeds 4 times faster. But again at least I have coverage right???
