Skinning Problem Please Help
Ok, so i downloaded the gunmetal theme and have followed all of the instructions through iphone interface but still have some problems. most of the icons load on to the phone, but my photos icon and my youtube icon are just generic application icons now. also, this icon set calls for 5 icons in the bottom bar, but there are still only four. how do i move an icon to the bottom row? if anyone can help i would appreciate it. thanks

You need to make sure you uploaded the modified DisplayOrder.plist included with the skin. You also need to reupload the two icons that aren't working, you must have put them in incorrectly, thats what happens when the iPhone can't find an icon for the app.

ok i have done this like 3 times now, and the two icons still wont work. i also uploaded the modified plist and it still hasnt corrected the icon order. do i have to jailbreak every time i try this or do i only have to jailbreak one time. also, if i jailbreak and then itunes comes up and it starts to sync before i can close itunes do i need to re-jailbreak again? do you think that restoring my ipod and then trying all of this again will help?

ok here is my commany line for re configuring my "button bar"
iPhoneInterface v0.3.1 built on Jul 14 2007
Waiting for phone... established.
iPhone state: Activated
type "help" for help
iPhone:/# cd /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app
iPhone:/System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app# putfile DisplayOrder.plist
fileref: 1
iPhone:/System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app#
after i do this i type in :
cd /System/Library/Lockdown
putfile Services.plist
after this it loads for a second and i get this response:
fileref: 1
which i thought meant that it worked. but then it says Command isnt responding and it shuts down. after this i turn off my iphone and turn it back on and nothing has changed whatsoever...what am i doing wrong?
oh and by the way im using vista home edition

With 0.3.1, you have to cd to the directory AND use the absolute path fr the putfile.
So:
cd /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app
putfile /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/DisplayOrder.plist

ok that worked and now the iphone is in the right format, but now when i try to open interface or jailbreak the command window closes like right as it is supposed to detect the iphone. also, itunes said it could not connect to the iphone because of an error. what next? haha

You didn't put the Services.plist back on correctly. Again, you MUST USE the ABSOLUTE path when uploading using 0.3.1.

Hmm. Im betting its because you weren't replacing the services.plist file correctly in the beginning.

ok well interface wont connect to the phone, and neither will itunes or jailbreak, so do you have any idea how to reset the phone or somehow fix it so i can re-connect to either interface or itunes so i can restore the phone?

First just try restarting the phone and computer.
If that doesn't work, start up iTunes, put the iPhone in Recovery Mode (hold down the Sleep and Home button for 25 seconds until the yellow caution sign comes up) and then connect it to your computer. iTunes will then ask if you would like to restore, hit Yes.

ok one more think i figured out my problem. i know you have to enter this code in at the end of any mod correct?:
cd /System/Library/Lockdown
putfile Services.plist
exit
well i dont know why i didnt realize this earlier but i dont have the file "Services.plist" saved on my computer, which is probably why it keeps shutting down on me. Where can i download this file, and will this solve my problem? Thanks

That should be in your phonedmg folder if you have correctly done the Get Connected process.
