10-12-2007, 05:59 PM #1What's the benefit of 1.1.1 anyways?
I went to an Apple store near me to check out the display phones that have 1.1.1 installed.
Other than the iTunes downloader, what are the benefits of 1.1.1 over 1.0.2?
I mean, it seems more of a hassle to upgrade/downgrade/virginize/voodoo dance your iPhone than it is to stay at 1.0.2 and enjoy the sweet 3rd party apps that have been developed.
Any input? The Cake Is A LIE!

Im sticking with 1.0.2 until i can get everything working on 1.1.1. You do get a improved speaker volume, double tap on home to open up song controls, aside from that nothing i care about. I have iTunes on my computer, no need for another way to spend money.

I'd really like the universal iPod controls as well as the double-tap and wifi store.
But not enough to give up all my 1.0.2 goodness!

You also get TV out. Not worth the $40 cable and hassle of not having all my 3rd Party apps, IMHO. I'm sticking with 1.0.2 as well.

Almost every third-party app STILL works on 1.1.1... the only one that doesn't that I ever used in the first place is Sketches. SummerBoard also doesn't work at all.
There are a few other features as well (Edge switch and such), but not much. Mainly it's the iTunes MobileStore, which I wasn't even excited about, but now I love... I haven't even downloaded anything from it, I just like to go and preview songs =)
Anyway, the whole process of getting Installer.app on your 1.1.1 isn't too bad, but if your uncertain, just wait a week or so for a simple GUI method.

Does the current jailbreak method only add the edge switch and mobile iTunes store and not these other benefits?

Upgrading to 1.1.1
I have a question- I know this may seem dumb. When you upgrade to 1.1.1 does it remove all 3rd party apps including installer app? I guess I am wondering what I should do and how. It appears 3rd party apps are working on 1.1.1 but I am confused how to get installer app on this version.
Overall I have 1.0.2 - If I upgraded to 1.1.1 what happens to all my 3rd party programs INSTALLER APP ECT..? How do I reinstall them? Should I wait?
Any help would be so cool- Thanks!!! =)

Does anybody know if the universal controls work while the phone is locked?
If so, then it might be worth upgrading... or I could just wait... Ill just wait, but Id still like to know if the ipod controls work while locked. All is... so Accept and Just Be

Guys I said like pretty much EVERY thing works... NES yes it works... Installer, yes it works.. all the 1.1.1 features work. The guide just says something about those 2 that Ashley mentioned specifically.
Look here for list of working apps in 1.1.1

I have a question about if and when I do upgade to 1.1.1 with my 1.0.2 unlock iphone. If you have to virginize your iphone and re-unlock it, doesn't this reduce the number of unlocks that you are allowed on your iphone? I would think this would be a big problem since I did not think there is currently a way to reset the unlock counter?
