Need help to view Excel .xls files please

I get a few .xls files per day, most of them open with no prob. but I get some where I get this message: "Sorry, the document cannot be viewed. The document may be password protected or an error occured while reading it."

What can I do to get these to open????

I got the same message:

The document may be password protected or an error occured while reading it.

The document IS password protected, but i dont see why i cant just put in my user and password to access it?? I can do it from a windows PC.

Anyway, if anyone has advice please help, i need to email this around and it has company info on it, so it should remain password protected.
