all i know is the bluetooth is only restricted by the firmware, therefore can be recoded to work fully.

i also really really really really want this, but havent heard anything about a project, and dont have the knowledge to do it myself.

no bluetooth sucks.

So it would be possible to bypass the firmware's restrictions and have a fully functional Bluetooth, giving you options to connect to a computer and other handheld devices, in theory?
I have only VERY basic programing skills and would have no way of making this happen, but we can jailbreak and have made our iPhones capable of receiving mms, why not this too

Man I miss that to, sending a song or a pic or a vid to a mate.
Those were the things I loved about my old nokia...

look:

http://www.modmyi.com/wiki/index.php...hone_doesnt_do

question is, people consistently talk about the lack of bluetooth and i have never seen a constructive answer or an answer which leads me to believe anyone is or will work on it.

i am completely bemused by the fact we have got "iFartz" on the iphone (no offense, not the best app!) but have had no news from any programmers about the bluetooth?!

is a limitation of the firmware/OS, not the hardware

so when pwned is released and we can write our own firmware, can we re-write it so bluetooth is fully enabled?

Yeah. I noticed that. Pwning only does the jailbreaking processes before the firmware is uploaded on the iPhone...

But come on... They have done more amazing things on the iPhone. And yeah, there is so many wastes of apps... Reading the stuff around regarding the iPhone's bluetooth it says that the iPhone has only 2 of the possible 25 bluetooth profile..

Could you basically port the needed profiles to the iPhone and make an application to manage them...?

I don't see how this wouldn't work, I mean I would try it... but, lol, have no idea of the DEEP inner workings of the iPhone. Just the basic shizz. Like how to ssh into my phone to put files to make my theme work, lol.

PLEASE DEVELOPERS.
I'm willing to donate if this gets going...

Matt.

There is an app called NetServices that controls all the services on your phone.

You will most likely need a bluetooth dongle or adapter to make it process transfers and connections through your PC/MAC or Laptop. I think the signal wouldn't be at much great as well because I've used the Jawbone 2 with the iPhone and I couldn't even hear my girlfriend clearly from 1 room away from where my iPhone was.
