Outrageous Ebay auction
I don't know if this is legit, but you have got to check out this auction:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Apple-iPhone-Pre...QQcmdZViewItem
I wonder if this guy really expects someone to pay this price?

Yah ridiculous. Still, would be fun to have one this early. No way its worth that much though.

Almost two weeks early would be sweet: you could charge people just to look at it and hold it...and to make a call would cost them big time...
Lots of coin that guy will make if he actually manages to sell one (even though he doesn't physcially have one) but I'm sure eBay will be keeping an eye on these auctions as the complaints start piling in.Cheers,

No. It was for an iPhone shipped on release day of June 29th. I guess he was gonna stand in line to get one and then sell it on eBay.

Seems that ebay has pulled all auctions of this type off it's site. I was watching this particular auction to see which poor sucker would get hosed but now the auction's gone and a couple others like it. There was one auction where the seller claimed he went to a Convention where at&t handed out 50 free iphones and he managed to get one that he was auctioning on ebay. I sent the seller an e-mail and the next thing I know the auction disappeared. It appears that these auctions are as phoney as a 3 dollar bill.

Of course they are. eBay will have to treat them just like the PS3 auctions. Now those guys made some money on those machines.

yup! i sure did... but mine was a normal sale - not a presale. i had a PS3 in my hands before even starting to list on ebay.
and i am pretty sure the auctions were pulled because ebay's presale terms dictate that you MUST have a receipt with an identifiable and unique ebayID in the picture. at the moment there are obviously no official presold iphones so there can be no officially sanctioned auctions on ebay...Last edited by brinox; 06-11-2007 at 10:30 AM. Reason: spelled sanctioned wrong (wrote sanctions instead of sanctioned)
