    Default iPhone Speaker is garbage?
I switched over to the iPhone from a Nokia N80 which i purchased a year ago and let me say that the N80 was a great phone. One particular feature I loved about it was the speaker on the side of the phone which was LOUD and Clear.

This is where my question comes in. Is the iPhone speaker garbage or is it just mine?

The N80 only had one speaker as well but it was always clear.

I find that the quality of the music coming out of the iPhone is horribly distorted.

So does everyone else have this crappy speaker or is it just mine?

the speakerphone on iPhone is garbage, its so quiet. it did get a little louder with update 1.1.1.

i also came from a nokia (e62) and my goodness, speakers in general on nokia's are far superior than any speaker on iphone.

Huh. Do you guys really see this happening?

Even if it did, a recall would almost certainly mean updated FW form the factory. I'm not sure I'm interested in losing all of the mods & apps for a new speaker.

Well the speaker is okay for phone calls in 1.1.1 but the music is still distorted. I think it is just because iPods weren't made to be mini boom boxes, they are DAPs to be used with headphones. Plain and simple.

Well, for me it depends. On calls, the speaker sucks, hands down. For anything else, it's really loud, to the point of distortion.
