I have just purchased a new IPHONE off the Apple Store on the web, 2nd of October. Will it contain the new firmware 1.1.1? I hope not. Anyone certain about this cause I will activate and unlock it with another provider. Any help or assistance can help.
Appreciate your concern and Help.

Really depends on which store you go too.
Some bigger and busy stores are bound to have 1.1.1 in stock now.
But for slower smaller stores, you might be lucky in finding one.
So there is no certainty.
But if you do end up buying one, i think someone in hackint0sh.org found some relations with the serial on the back of the box with the firmware. Look throught the forum.

10-06-2007, 10:18 AM #3iPhone with 1.1.1 firmware purchased at Apple Store in Syracuse
My brother and his friend went down to the Apple Store Carousel which is in Syracuse. Unfortunately for each of them they returned home (Canada) with a new 8GB iPhone that have the 1.1.1 firmware. I used the method outlined at
to confirm that both phones were indeed using the 1.1.1 firmware. The first clue I came across was the new restore screen.
"If you cannot enter the phone, check it under emergency call by:
Pressing *3001#12345#* and press Call
03.12.06_G is firmware 1.0.0
03.14.08_G is firmware 1.0.1 and 1.02
04.01.13_G is 1.1.1"
The above runs the fieldtest app. (I think, not sure)
So now the question is whether or not to return the phones back to the Apple Store or to wait for a 1.1.1 solution. Any thoughts?
