Thread: How to kill an iphone

Having numerous failed attempts to get a replacement iPhone from Apple for my touch screen problem, i need to do things the hard way. 1/2 inch from the bottom, my touch screen does not work anymore. I restored and brought it to Apple, who could not see anything wrong with it because as an unactivated phone. As an unactivated phone, the affected 1/2 inch strip at the bottom is not used at all by any buttons. I even tried activating it (DVD John's method) and bringing it to the Apple store, who in return told me that they cannot help me because in order to help me, they must do a restore, which will leave my phone again at the activation screen. They will not be able to tell if the problem exists at this screen, so they advised me to activate it with ATT. I will not do this.
How can i make my iPhone permanently inoperable so i can get it repaired? Can this be done by means of unplugging the iPhone during a restore? I even heard microwaving it will do the trick. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Without your IMEI or iPhone serial number (not sure which) being associated with an active AT&T account, you're pretty much out of luck as far as any help from Apple or AT&T are concerned.
They don't want to help anyone who hasn't activated correctly.

Really? Has anyone here gotten support for an iPhone not activated by AT&T? This sucks!

I would do it in a way that offers more ability to revert if you get the cold shoulder from apple.

Send it my way, I'll kill it for you... and then some.
Now, granted, Apple might not exchange it for you, but what the hell. It's worth a try.
