Default Warranty question: will apple warranty a 4s if the screens been replaced?
I have a 4s that's still under warranty. A while back the screen broke so I replaced it with an aftermarket one.
Now recently the phones been developing other issues (non-screen related) which I think will get covered under warranty.

My question is, if I take it into the Apple store or call in a warranty request, do they tear the phone apart enough to see the screen is non-oem, and thus invalidate my warranty? I think my best bet would be to carry it into a store. I doubt they tear it apart while I wait. All the water damage indicators are still intact.

FYI. this is phone is not jailbroken and is running IOS 6.1.3, recently restored and factory reset.

Technically yes the warranty is invalid, but I think your assessment that they'll honor the warranty as long as the screen looks like it's the real McCoy at first glance is probably right. At most I'd imagine they'll take off the back cover to check the main logic board's liquid contact sensor...

When that phone gets back to the refurbishment depot, however, I imagine that whomever tests your screen will notice it's not OEM, and may be slightly annoyed to full-on enraged--and all sorts of things could happen at that point.

I would put money on them spotting a non Apple screen within seconds of handling the phone. Doubt they'll even need to take it apart.

Try it. Worst they can say is no, clear off chancer! And the technician in the refurb centre is going to do what? Come round to your house and take the replacement off you? I think not
