What carrier? Do you have data with your carrier? Are the APN settings the correct ones?

You need the straight talk apn. I have net 10 and I had the same issues

    Here.

    Cellular Data
    APN: att.mvno
    Username: *blank*
    Password: *blank*

    MMS
    APN: att.mvno
    Username: *blank*
    Password: *blank*
    MMSC: http://www.mmsc.cingular.com
    MMS Proxy: 66.209.11.33:80
    MMS Max Message Size: 1048576
    MMS UA Prof URL: *blank*

You need either tetherme (paid) or editapn (free)

What's tricky with Straight Talk is that they have two different APNs: one for T-Mobile SIMs, and one for AT&T.

    The T-Mobile APNs are:

    APN: wap.tracfone
    User: (blank)
    Pass: (blank)
    MMSC: http://mms.tracfone.com
MMS Proxy: (try leaving it blank, if that doesn't work, try 216.155.165.40:8080)
MMS Max Message Size: (try leaving it blank, if that doesn't work, try 1048576)
MMS UA Prof URL: (try leaving it blank, if that doesn't work, try https://www.apple.com/mms/uaprof.rdf).
