    ok why would my base band field go blank? phone was working great , my son suck a mini screw driver in dock connector and i wouldnt charge, so i swaped it out with part from wifes broken 4s , to get no service all of a sudden , was going to to update the ios but worried about baseband being blank

    Sticking a screw driver into the dock connector may have fried your hardware or baseband chip. You can try and do a restore if your baseband comes back but i doubt it.
