Changing Carrier Name / Getting Cydia - Virgin Mobile

Hi so I got the iphone 4S from virgin mobile for few months now, overall happy with the service in case anyone is curious... But anyways I'm tired of people asking me why it says Virgin in the carrier name place.... lol looks stupid


So I want to change it so what would be the easiest way to accomplish that and if assuming it would be to install cydia and thus jailbreak it, whats the best simplest guide for that?


Also should I know anything about jailbreak like will I have any problems when I want to update the software or would it just mean i need to re jailbreak but phone will be fine?

Well what phone do you have and what firmware is it on and we will go from there.

I have ios6 and my modern firmware is 3.0.04

dont see 5.1.1

Huh? 3.0.04?
Go to; Settings/General/About/ look for "Version", that will tell you what firmware (OS) you are on. I think you posted your "Modem Firmware".
If your phone has never been jailbroken before, you most likely do not have any SHSH blobs saved, this could limit your options.
There are a ton of tweaks in Cydia that allow you to change the carrier to another or a image etc.

Hmmm well I wouldn't suggest 6.0 for a jailbreak. Since its tethered and still has some bugs and since ya kinda new I wouldn't want to put ya threw this.
I take it this phone has been on 5.1.1 before correct?

Ah ok yeah if its complicated not worth it all i want cydia for is to change the carrier name lol.... wish there was another way

You may want to wait for the new jailbreak to come out then.

It's just tethered and well if ya phone would happen to restart or battery die. You wouldn't be able to use ya phone till ya plugged it into the pc again

But has ya phone ever been on a 5.1.1 firmware or lower? We could downgrade it for ya. And then jailbreak it.
